Fatal explosions in Belgorod city of Russia on Ukraine- Russian border has killed three peoples and left structures devastated.
Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov posted on Telegram about many explosions in Belgorod, a city of over 400,000 people located about 40 kilometres north of the Ukrainian border.
According to him, the nocturnal incident destroyed 39 detached homes and at least 11 apartment structures. At least four persons, including a 10-year-old child, were hurt, said Gladkov.
Russia has claimed that this is the most deadly attack on Russia since the start of the invasion by Ukraine. This is not the first instance of Russia accusing Ukraine of attacking a bordering region.
Andrei Klishas, a member of the Russian Federation Council, posted on Telegram that “the killing of civilians and the destruction of civilian infrastructure in Belgorod constitute a blatant act of aggression on the part of Ukraine and needs a severe military response. ”
There was no way to verify the Russian officers’ assertions independently, and Ukraine made no immediate comment.
Last week Russian missiles killed more than 40 civilians in Ukraine. The first attack occurred on the Kremenchuk shopping mall on 27 June, when 19 civilians lost their lives. On Friday, two airstrikes made in different regions in Odesa claimed the lives of more than 20.
To the accusations against Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the army intended to hit a weapons depot asserting that the Russian military was carrying out the operation correctly. Russian army does not involve civilians, asserted Putin.
Earlier, Belarus President Lukashenko claimed that Ukrainian missiles targeted Belarus military posts. Since the beginning of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February, there have reportedly been multiple fires and explosions in Belgorod and other areas. However, Kyiv has not claimed credit for any of them.
