Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. Terrance Drew shared the upgradations in the health department of the island nation. These achievements in the sector highlight the unwavering commitment and dedication of the ministry towards fostering well-being of the citizens by focusing on the health sector of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.
During the previous government’s tenure, Minister Wendy Phipps received $40,000 but the nurses and doctors who all worked on the frontline were paid nothing. Meanwhile, administration led by PM Terrance Drew made sure that the health workers should receive an increase in pay which was denied by the team Unity.
Moreover, the nurses were also granted scholarships in order to allow them to specialize in their respective and different areas. The availability of scholarships sheds light on the efforts of the government towards promoting women in the medical field.
The recruitment of the skilled and highly reputed neurologist and endocrinologist is another achievement undertaken by the administration of the island nation in the health sector. The presence of these medical specialists emphasises the significant milestone in the healthcare system.
As, these medical professionals have brought wide experience and aims to cater for the needs of the citizens, with a vision of advancing healthcare facilities.
The administration also introduced the addition of advanced equipment at JNF Hospital in order to provide accessible and top-quality health care services to the patients. The equipments have and will continue to improve the efficiency and productivity of the medical and nursing staff of the island nation.
Following that, PM Terrance Drew also focused on providing a healing and safe environment. The repairing of the hospital roof to end years of leaking and refurbishment of the hospital foyer at the JNF Hospital reflects the administration’s efforts to enhance the infrastructure and services at the JNF Hospital. Along with that, it also plays a key role in creating a pleasant atmosphere for all the patients.
While sharing the details of the development in the health sector, PM Drew stated that there is more to come in the health department which people deserve. He also stated that his administration will continue to make efforts in order to improve health security and enhance standard of living.
