Roseau, Dominica: The students of Bellevue Chopin Primary School received a warm welcome by the Prime Minister of Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit at his office. The leader of the nation called these students as “the future of Dominica” and exchanged several dialogues with them with a vision to enhance education sector of the island nation.
PM Skerrit shared glimpses of his meeting with the children on his official Facebook account and stated, “I had the pleasure of welcoming the students of the Bellevue Chopin Primary School to my office on Thursday.”
The students assembled at the office in order to celebrate Library Week which was organized by the Dominica Library and Information Service. During their visit to the office, PM held healthy discussions with them and listened to their vibrant and entertaining classroom experiences.
PM Skerrit also talked about their new school building and promised to offer them with the best amenities, ensuring comfortable and vibrant study atmosphere. The leader called the meeting productive and stated that it was truly an honour to spend some time with the upcoming generations who is going to be the strongest pillar of Dominica in the near future.
The Library Week in Dominica is being celebrated under the theme “Libraries: Still Valuable, Still Relevant, Still Connecting People.” The theme shed light on celebrating and acknowledging the valuable contribution of all the libraries, librarians, and professionals who have played a huge role in promoting literacy through library use.
Moreover, Library Week in Dominica was celebrated from 13th May to 18thMay at the several units of the Dominica Library and Information Service. The authorities hosted several activities including radio address, info talks, health fair, exhibition and many more.
During the meeting, PM Roosevelt Skerrit also emphasised on the importance of education and the role it plays in shaping individual’s life. He expressed his desire to promote education sector in order to give everyone their access to practice their Right to Education.
