Brussels: Russia, in its latest missile attack, has struck more than 40 Ukrainian cities while NATO allies held their meeting in Brussels, with the plans to boost up the European Air Defense system with Patriot and various other missile systems.

“We are living in threatening, dangerous times,” said German Defence Minister Christine Lambrecht during a signing ceremony which was being attended by more than a dozen European members of NATO. These members have jointly agreed on acquiring weapons for a European Sky Shield to provide enhanced protection to their respective countries.

At the same time, Moscow has issued a warning that the military being provided to Ukraine, which was agreed upon by NATO members in a meeting that took place earlier this week, makes the US-led military alliance ‘a direct party to the conflict’ and the consequences of this act could lead to World War.

“Kyiv is very well aware that such a step would mean a guaranteed escalation to a World War Three,” stated the deputy secretary of Russia’s Security Council, Alexander Venediktov.
Kremlin has been trying to justify the death of millions of individuals, citing the security threats to Russia if Ukraine joins NATO.

But NATO, which has always been reluctant to add Ukraine as a member even before the war, won’t be so easily let Ukraine in as its member now as it would directly imply the Russian war be against NATO and its allies.

Ukraine has received assistance from Washington and NATO member nations earlier as well. Additionally, the NATO countries have imposed numerous sanctions against Russia but have kept away from being a direct party to the conflict.
