Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba will be in Brussels on 15 and 16 May as part of a European diplomatic tour de force.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement, Minister Dmytro Kulebaa will be a special guest at a meeting of the EU Council on Foreign Affairs on Monday, 16 May.
The primary topics for discussions will be Europe’s future and what role Ukraine can play as a part of it. Ukraine’s potential official EU candidate status is also on the agenda, despite Macron’s more sober prediction on Ukraine’s swift accession to the EU.
EU and Ukrainian delegates will also discuss the sixth package of EU sanctions against Russia, in which both parties are pushing for an embargo on Russian oil, despite the pushback from the certain Member States.
As part of the EU agenda, Kuleba will also hold talks with European Commission leaders on how to best support the Ukrainian economy, rebuild destroyed infrastructure and increase humanitarian aid to the war-torn country.
Before visiting Brussels, Foreign Minister Kuleba will also be travelling to Germany for meetings with the German government in Berlin and a G7 meeting of foreign ministers in Lubeck.
The final stop of the diplomatic tour will be The Hague, where he will meet members of the Dutch government but also will be bringing attention to Ukraine’s cases at the ICC against Russia, in the hope to bring them to justice for alleged crimes against humanity against Ukraine and its people.
