Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began on 24 February, the European Union has already announced a 1.5 billion euros package in military aid to Kyiv.

However, Kyiv believes these deliveries are insufficient and too slow. The European funds made available are used primarily to finance protective equipment, first aid kits and fuel, but also “lethal military equipment for defensive purposes.”

Ukraine would like to receive more heavy armaments, such as armoured vehicles, anti-aircraft systems, artillery and fighter planes.

According to Ukrainian authorities and Western intelligence services, Russia is preparing for a massive offensive in eastern Ukraine to take complete control of the Donbass region.

According to the governor of Lugansk, tens of thousands of Russian soldiers are making their way towards the frontline in the east. They are currently waiting for more favourable weather to go on the offensive.
