The Cyber specialists of the Security Service of Ukraine has nabbed an agent of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, who launched the air attack of the Russian Federation on Kharkiv, on October 6.
It is to be noted that, “On that day, the occupiers fired Iskander-type missiles at the regional center. As a result of which, two civilians, including a 10-year-old boy died and dozens other civilians were injured. Several residential buildings in the center of Kharkiv also suffered significant destruction and damage.”
The details about the above mentioned has been shared by the Security Service of Ukraine via their official social media handle.
While sharing the details, the SBU added that, “In order to prepare a missile attack, a Russian agent gave the invaders electronic coordinates of targets with reference to the terrain. The traitor turned out to be a man who worked as a foreman at a local enterprise engaged in the construction of highways and bridges. The Russian special service recruited him remotely through the Telegram messenger.”
“Under the guise of working trips, the agent recorded the locations and movements of Ukrainian troops in the region. The received information was transmitted to the Russian game through a liaison from the temporarily occupied part in the east of Ukraine. He turned out to be one of the former leaders of the terrorist organization LNR nicknamed Shaman, to whom the SBU had previously informed about the suspicion,” shares the SBU.
During searches, the detainee was found to have:
▪️ 4 mobile phones and 7 sim cards of different mobile operators with evidence of correspondence with the aggressor;
▪️ bank cards that received “salaries” from the Russian game;
▪️ more than USD 10,000, obtained by criminal means.
On the basis of the collected evidence, the investigators of the Security Service informed the enemy agent of the suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law).
He is currently in custody. An investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime. The perpetrator faces life imprisonment.
