Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. Terrance Drew held discussions with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to St. Kitts and Nevis, Cornelis Hersbach. The discussions were held when the ambassador paid a courtesy call to the island nation on Friday with the motive of enhancing bilateral cooperation.

PM Terrance Drew shared glimpses of his meeting with the ambassador and stated that their conversations aimed at fostering the longstanding relations between both the Netherlands and St. Kitts and Nevis.

“The Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to St. Kitts and Nevis, His Excellency Cornelis Hersbach paid a courtesy call to my Office, marking the beginning of constructive discussions to enhance bilateral cooperation”, noted PM Terrance Drew.

During Hersbach’s visit to St. Kitts and Nevis, he signed a Maritime Delimitation Treaty which aims to enhance trade relations between both the nations, especially in the vital areas of food production and a special focus on fisheries.

The signing of the agreement also outlines the unwavering commitment and dedication of both countries to foster economic growth and environmental sustainability.

The meeting was also attended by Douglas Gillanders, Honorary Consul of the Netherlands, Glenroy Blanchette, Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office and Jazzee Connor, Foreign Service Officer. All the attendees of the meeting aimed to generate initiatives that will benefit the citizens and will contribute to regional development.

PM Drew called the Kingdom of the Netherlands, a valued partner whose collaboration and efforts will play a pivotal role in yielding mutual benefits and fostering greater prosperity to all the citizens of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.

The Kingdom of the Netherlands as one of the founding members of the European Union plays a crucial role in facilitating international co-operation.

With this collaboration, both nations are striving hard and continuously making efforts in order to advance common goals and address shared challenges.
