Since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, over 18 million people have succumbed to deadly COVID-19 infection around the globe, which is threefold the official death toll.

As per the official statistics, around 5.94 million deaths to Covid-19 are not the real image.

The report mentioned that, “Although reported Covid-19 deaths between January 1, 2020, and December 31, 2021, totalled 5.94 million worldwide, we estimate that 18.2 million people died worldwide because of the pandemic (as measured by excess mortality) over that period.”

“The overall impact of the pandemic has been much more than what is indicated by reported deaths due to Covid-19 alone.”

Moreover, the researchers noted that the official death toll is much low because most of the COVID-19 infections remained undiagnosed.
They added that millions of individuals had faced death as they could not access normal healthcare services during the pandemic.

Along with this, 74 of the nations and the territories and the 266 subnational locations have reported either weekly or in the monthly casualties from all of the causes during the pandemic in 2020 and 2021, and for up to 11 years in the previous duration.

It is based on the excess mortality, the maximum number of deaths on top of the normal expected death rate, and the total number of deaths is estimated.

However, it has been discovered all over the globe, per 100,000 individuals, there were around 120 deaths, while this surpassed 300 deaths per 100,000 people in 21 nations.

The most increased number of cumulative excess deaths due to the pandemic on a national level was noticed in India. As per the information provided by the research, over 4 million individuals have died of infection.

Furthermore, in the United States, there are 1.13 million people that have succumbed to a deadly virus, and the highest mortality rate among these countries was highest in Russia is 374,6 deaths per 100,000.
