Roseau, Dominica: Dr Irving McIntyre, the Minister for Finance of the Commonwealth of Dominica extended a welcome to Roger F Nyhus, the newly appointed Ambassador of the United States of America to the island nation. The meeting between both dignitaries focused on enhancing the relationship between the two nations.
Dr Irving McIntyre is currently serving as the acting Prime Minister in the absence of Prime Minister of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit. As, PM Skerrit is attending the 46th Regular Meeting of the Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) in Georgetown, Guyana.
The main objective behind the meeting between both parties is to strengthen the mutual understanding and relationships between both countries by taking significant measures for the development.
Dr Irving McIntyre and Roger F Nyhus conducted discussions on several important topics including climate resilience, economic development, national security. All these discussions outlined the strength of mutual understanding and friendship between both nations.
Roger F Nyhus initially presented the credentials to Sylvanie Burton, the President of the Commonwealth of Dominica. It aims to enhance the relationship between both nations by facing all the obstacles and hurdles that come in their way of development.
During the meeting, Ambassador Nyhus and President Burton pledged to maintain a robust partnership rooted in common values and a commitment to tackle shared challenges.
Moreover, the Acting Prime Minister, Dr Irving McIntyre conveyed all the best wishes to Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit for a successful tour of duty at Georgetown, Guyana.
The acting PM also expressed his desire to work continuously with the United States, fostering the relationships between both nations. He further added his willingness to enhance their collaboration as a strategic partners on matters of security and development assistance with the United States of America.
Notably, both nations established their formal relations in 1978 and aiming to continue their relation with positive collaboration.
