Dominica: The Prime Minister of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit is all set to take active participation in the 46th regular meeting of the Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) meeting and the 8th Summit of the Head of State and Government of the CELAC.

Notably, PM Skerrit will firstly attend the 46th Regular meeting of the Heads of Government of the CARICOM in Georgetown, Guyana. The CARICOM meeting will take place from 25th to 28th February 2024. The meeting will be chaired by Dr Irfaan Ali, the President of Guyana.

The main objective of the meeting is to talk about various aspects of the growth and development in the Middle East. The topics that will be discussed in the meeting include food and nutrition security, climate change, climate financing, development in regional transportation, global and hemispheric issues etc.

Along with that, the administrational heads will also talk about CARICOM’s 25 by 2025 initiative which focuses on reducing food import bills and improving intra-regional trade. The authorities will also discuss the ongoing preparation of the ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup 2024.

Following the CARICOM meeting, the Prime Minister will visit St Vincent and the Grenadines to attend the 8th Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC). The meeting will take place on 1st March 2024.

It is to be noted that the meeting will be attended by 33 heads of state and 400 diplomats. The summit will be held with the vision to create a sustainable development of the Latin American and Caribbean States.

Additionally, the Prime Minister of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit will be attending the meetings to discuss crucial measures in order to enhance the working of the nation. At that time, Dr Irving McIntyre, the Minister for Finance, Economic Development, Climate Resilience and Social Security will be serving as the acting Prime Minister and will be taking all the considerable steps and actions.
