The Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica, on Tuesday has addressed a press conference, sharing the details about the preparation made by the Ministry of Sports in coordination with the National Police as well as the Dominica Cricket Association.
While addressing the press conference, Minister of Sports and youth of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Oscar George has addressed the key concerns, including emphasizing on the preparations ensured by the Government of Dominica to host the Test Series between the Cricket teams of West Indies and India from July 12-16, 2023 at Windsor Park Stadium, Dominica.
During the address, Minister George has emphasized on the importance as well as the craze of the game of Cricket among the Dominicans. Notably, while addressing, Minister of Sports, Oscar George, extended thanks to the those, who are playing role in ensuring that all preparations are going well. Along with this, he also added that, “It is evident from the response we’ve received, all the sportspersons and team staff are satisfied with the level of hospitality that they are receiving in Dominica.
At the same time, Minister Oscar George added that, “From the perspective of the government, we know the real value that can be derived from the Cricket and that is why we are heavily investing in the sports industry.” He ensured that, members of all the concerned authorities as well as the officials along with the support from the government are ensuring that, all the logistics are in place.”
Minister George stated that, “The government of Dominica has invested over 1 million dollars in the overall operation of cricket. We are contributed $250,000 as the bidding fees. We know that cricket is a very expensive sport. We have spent $212,000 in ensuring that we upgrade the players pavilion.”
Along with this, Minister George, while addressing, said that, “We continue to support in whatever way we can to ensure that cricket at the end of the day succeeds with this kind of investment. This will also going to open up number of opportunities for the local vendors and also going to aid the local economy of the nation.”
