The Minister of State in the Ministry of Culture, Youth, Sports and Community Development, Oscar George, said that, the Government of Dominica will continue to champion the cause of skills development.
It is to be noted that, the Commonwealth of Dominica has joined the rest of the world to observe “World Youth Skills Day” on July 15. Minister George added that, “As a Government we will continue to champion the cause of skills development, ensuring that no one is left behind.”
Noting to which, he encouraged all the stakeholders including the private sector entities, educational institutions, and civil society organizations for collaborating in its efforts in expanding the number of opportunities for the skills development.
He added that, “Together, we can create the enabling environment that unlocks the full potential of our youth and propels Dominica towards a bright future.”
At the same time, Minister George, on behalf of the Ministry of Youth, extends his warm wishes to all the young people of Dominica who have received benefits from the relevant training programe, adding that, “Their dedication, resilience and thirst for the knowledge are actually commendable.”
He also implored youth across the nation to seize the chance, to learn and grow and become agents of positive change in Dominica. Moreover, George has highlighted that the government recognizes the immense potential of the youth and the significant role that they play in shaping the nation’s future.
Alongside, Minister George said that, “We have introduced initiatives like the Dominica Youth Business Trust and the Youth Development Division Skills Training Program which continue to provide invaluable skills to youth across the island.”
He continue to add that, “The Dominica Youth Business Trust has been instrumental in boosting the entrepreneurship and nurturing youth through detailed training programs.
Moreover, he also indicated that this initiative has not only encouraged creativity and self-reliance among our youth, but has also contributed to overall economic growth of Dominica.
