Counterintelligence officers of the Security Service detained another informer of the Russian forces in Dnipro. The following information has been shared by the Security Service of Ukraine via their official social media handle.
The perpetrator turned out to be an official of the local division of Ukrzaliznytsia, who was recruited by the Russian military at the beginning of 2023.
On the instructions of the Russian curator, the Russian accomplice gathered intelligence about the locations of the bases of the Security and Defense Forces in the territory of the regional center.
It is to be noted that, intelligence information was needed by the Russians to prepare targeted air attacks on strategically important objects of the transport infrastructure of Ukraine.
However, the SBU employees acted in advance and prevented the implementation of the Russia’s plans – the perpetrator was promptly exposed and detained at her place of residence.
According to the investigation, the Russian informant was in “direct” contact with a senior Russian military officer who was stationed in the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk region.
The official came to the attention of the Russian special service because of her destructive activity in Russian public places, where she published proposals for helping the occupying forces.
In order to collect intelligence, the suspect traveled around the city on public transport and secretly photographed Ukrainian objects.
During the search of the detainee’s place of residence, a mobile phone was found, which she used to communicate with the Russian “curator”.
On the basis of the collected evidence, the investigators of the Security Service informed the accused about the suspicion.
She is currently in custody. An investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime. The perpetrator faces up to 8 years in prison.
Counter-subversion measures were carried out by SBU employees in the Dnipropetrovsk region under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor’s office.
