The counter-intelligence of the Security Service exposed another informant of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Federation (better known as Gru) in Mykolaiv. The suspect was correcting Russian airstrikes on the city.

It was under his guidance that the Russians shelled the Mykolaiv Shipyard. Then, as a result of the enemy attack, 6 civilians were injured and their houses were damaged.

In addition, the enemy accomplice was passing on the locations of bases and movements of the Defense Forces in the territory of the regional center.

First of all, Russian military intelligence was interested in the locations of warehouses with ammunition and the routes of movement of heavy armored vehicles of the Armed Forces, including Leopard tanks and Bradley infantry fighting vehicles.

For the performance of intelligence, the game informant received a monetary reward from his Russian “curator”.

SBU counter-intelligence officers detained an enemy accomplice while collecting new data on the deployment of the Defense Forces in the city.

According to the investigation, the suspect turned out to be a local resident, whom the Russian special service remotely involved in secret cooperation at the beginning of this year.

He came to the attention of the invaders as an active user of pro-Kremlin Telegram channels, where he regularly posted his own anti-Ukrainian comments under fake news.

To collect information, the attacker independently went to the area and recorded the “necessary” information or used his acquaintances “in the dark”.

During searches of the detainee’s place of residence, a mobile phone with evidence of intelligence-subversive activities, as well as ammunition for small arms, was found.

Currently, the suspect has been notified of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The perpetrator is in custody. He faces up to 12 years in prison.

Complex measures were carried out by SBU employees in the Mykolaiv region under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor’s office.
