Counter-intelligence agents of the Security Service of Ukraine has nabbed an FSB informant in the Donetsk region, who was gathering intelligence on the consequences of a Russian missile attack on a café in the center of Kramatorsk on June 27. The details about the following has been shared by the Security Service of Ukraine via their official social media handle.
As per the details shared by the SBU, “He received this task immediately after the air attack on the city. The FSB was most interested in information on the number of dead and injured people as a result of fire damage.”
The details have further mentioned that, the suspects are trying to gather as much information as possible about the possible affiliations of the victims to the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
It was added that, in addition to the indicated fact, the FSB informant covertly monitored the locations and movements of Ukrainian defenders on the territory of the front-line city.
Intelligence information was needed by the occupiers to prepare new airstrikes in the region.
The security service exposed and detained the intruder while he was carrying out a new enemy mission in Kramatorsk.
According to the investigation, the FSB informant turned out to be a local resident who was recruited by the Russian special service in the spring of this year. He came into the aggressor’s field of vision because of his own anti-Ukrainian comments in various Telegram channels.
The details have added that further communication was carried out via messenger. For the conspiracy, the person involved registered his account under a fictitious name.
Based on the collected evidence, SBU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion.
He is currently in custody. An investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime.
Complex measures were carried out by SBU employees in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural guidance of the Donetsk regional prosecutor’s office.
