Counter-intelligence unit of the Security Service of Ukraine have nabbed a former militant of the terrorist organization “DNR” in Vinnytsia.

The attacker turned out to be a resident of Donetsk region, who in 2014 joined the ranks of the “reconnaissance company” of the “Vostok” group, which was controlled by the 1st army corps of the Russian Federation.

The following information has been shared by the Security Service of Ukraine via their official social media handle.

As per the details, in the same year, he took an active part in the seizure of administrative buildings and key objects of the critical infrastructure of the city of Horlivka.

Even before the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, the militant decided to leave the ranks of the occupiers and moved to Vinnytsia, where he tried to hide from justice.

However, SBU officers located him and detained him near the house where he temporarily lived.

The suspect’s phone was seized, in which he kept his own photos from combat operations against the forces of the anti-terrorist operation in the Donetsk region.

So far, the investigators of the Security Service have notified the intruder of the suspicion under Part 1 of Art. 258-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (participation in a terrorist group or terrorist organization).

The court chose a preventive measure for him in the form of detention. An investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime. The perpetrator faces up to 15 years in prison.

Complex measures were carried out by SBU employees in Vinnytsia region under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor’s office.
