Counter-intelligence of the Security Service detained a traitor in Odesa, who had been hiding from justice for crimes against Ukraine for a long time.
The attacker turned out to be a former member of the illegal armed formation “self-defense of Crimea” controlled by the Russian Federation. The details about the following has been shared by the Security Service of Ukraine via their official social media handle.
While in the ranks of the group, in 2014 he helped the Russian occupiers seize administrative buildings on the territory of the Ukrainian peninsula, in particular in the city of Sudak.
The suspect also patrolled the streets, stood at roadblocks and provided “security” for pro-Kremlin rallies organized by representatives of the Russian special services at the time.
During such “measures”, the traitor illegally searched local residents and their cars. After that, people were often detained and taken to an “unknown direction.”
In addition, the militant took a direct part in the “containment” of the “Tervyborchkoms” created by the aggressor, which were involved in holding a fake referendum on the “joining” of the peninsula to the Russian Federation.
For this help to the Russian invaders, the attacker received the Kremlin medal “for the defense of Crimea” from them in 2014.
Even before the start of the full-scale invasion, a militant disguised as an immigrant from the south of Ukraine moved to Vinnytsia, where his relatives lived.
According to available data, the reason for the “relocation” was a conflict with the leaders of the group.
Later, he moved to Odessa, where he “went to the bottom” and thus tried to avoid justice for his crimes.
In the course of counter-subversive measures, the SBU employees established his location and detained him at his place of temporary residence.
During the search, material evidence of his criminal activities was found on the detainee, including a 2014 medal “for the defense of Crimea”.
Based on the collected evidence, the detainee was notified of suspicion under three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
▪️ Part 1 Art. 111 (treason);
▪️ Part 2 Art. 110 (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine);
▪️ Part 2 Art. 260 (participation in an illegal armed formation).
Currently, he has been remanded in custody without bail. An investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime. The perpetrator faces 15 years in prison.
Counter-subversion measures were carried out jointly with the National Police under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Crimea.
