The Security Service of Ukraine has exposed another UOC (MP) cleric in the Cherkasy region, who has justified the Russian armed invasion against Ukraine. The details about the following were released by the Security Service of Ukraine via their official social media handle.
In the social media post, SBU detailed about, “In communication with parishioners and his acquaintances, he repeatedly praised the higher military and political leadership of the Russian Federation and personally the head of the Kremlin.”
The details added that, “He also glorified Kadyrov and justified the war crimes of the Rashists.”
As it turned out during the investigation, the subdeacon was a supporter of Nazism and at the same time promoted the idea of “renewal” of the Soviet Union and called for the seizure of the entire territory of Ukraine by the Rashists.
During searches of the places of residence of the person involved, the following were found:
▪️ computer equipment with enemy propaganda materials;
▪️ prohibited symbols and printed publications with Nazi and communist symbols.
On the basis of the collected evidence, the investigators of the Security Service notified the cleric of suspicion under part 1 and part 3 of Art. 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (justification, recognition as legitimate, denial of armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).
It is to be specifically mentioned that an investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime. The perpetrator faces up to 8 years in prison. Complex measures were carried out by SBU employees in Cherkasy region under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor’s office.
