The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, on Wednesday has made promise for “victory” during a visit to the city of Izyum that was recently recaptured from Moscow by Kyiv’s military in lightning counter-offensive.
The visit came at a vital moment in Russia’s six-month-old invasion, with Ukraine expelling Moscow’s army from swathes of the east & seriously challenging the Kremlin’s ambition to capture the entire Donbas region.
As per the statement released by Zelenskyy, “Our blue-yellow flag is already flying in de-occupied Izyum & it will be so in every city of Ukraine as well as village.”
“We are moving in only one direction- forward and towards victory.” Pictures disturbed by his office have shown that the leader of Ukraine wearing dark green & flanked by guards as he took selfies with troops and thanked the army at a flag-hoisting ceremony.
Back in Kyiv, a motorist collided with the vehicle carrying Zelenskyy, though the president was not seriously injured in the accident, his spokesman said on Thursday.
The spokesman stated that, “The law enforcement officers will launch a probe all the circumstances of the accident.”
In his nightly address, a video of which was posted shortly after the accident, Zelenskyy said that “almost the entire region of Kharkiv is de-occupied.”
“It was an unprecedented movement of our troops- the Ukrainians once again managed to do what many thoughts was impossible.”
Ukraine was recently made a claim sweeping successes in the northeastern region of Kharkiv that borders Russia, and has said it has clawed back territory along a southern front near the Kherson region on the Black Sea.
