A Russian collaborator has been slapped with 8 years of imprisonment for guarding the administrative buildings of the Russian troops during the occupation of the Kherson. The following information has been shared by the Security Service of Ukraine via their official social media handle.
While sharing the details of the following, SBU in the post, noted that, “Because of the evidence base collected by the Security Service, it was possible to prosecute another member of the occupying “Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Kherson Region”.
It is to be noted that, SBU officers have arrested the perpetrator at the beginning of this year during stabilization measures in the liberated regional center. The “credential” of a fake police officer was confiscated from the detainee.
According to the investigation, the detainee turned out to be a local resident who, during the occupation of the city, voluntarily cooperated with the aggressor and joined the Russian penal body.
There, he was assigned to the “separate battalion of the patrol and post service of Kherson”, issued weapons and a Russian-style uniform.
While in the “post”, the collaborator guarded the captured administrative buildings, where the Rashists had set up local occupation bodies.
In addition, he participated in the abductions of Kherson residents who resisted the invaders, who were then sent to Russian torture camps.
According to the SBU materials, the perpetrator was found guilty under Art. 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (collaborative activity).
Taking into account the assistance to the investigation, the court sentenced him to 8 years in prison with the deprivation of the right to hold positions in law enforcement and state authorities for a period of 15 years.
The investigation was conducted by SBU employees in the Kherson region under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor’s office.
