Roseau, Dominica: Dominica welcomed the inaugural flight of Sunrise Airways on Monday at Douglas Charles Airport. With the water cannon display, the tourism ministry hosted a welcome ceremony for the airline which will provide six-days weekly service.
The officials of Sunrise Airways such as CEO Phillipe Bayard welcomed by the government officials including acting prime minister Dr Irving McIntyre and Tourism Minister Denise Charles.
Sunrise Airways will provide connecting flight between Dominica to Antigua, St. Kitts and St. Lucia. The flights are expected to enhance the air connection and open gates for new opportunities.
As per the airline, the flight will provide seamless travel options to the travellers and greater access to the tourists from across the globe. Denise Charles-Pemberton Minister for Tourism, Dominica said,“SUNRISE AIRWAYS TO INTRODUCE NEW FLIGHTS LINKING DOMINICA TO EASTERN CARIBBEAN NEIGHBORS.”
“We are pleased that Sunrise Airways has heeded our region’s call for increased intra-regional travel. Their dedication to connecting our islands aligns with our vision for a more interconnected Eastern Caribbean. This expansion is not just a win for Dominica but for all the destinations involved. We anticipate a surge in tourism and economic activity, offering our citizens more travel opportunities and bringing our communities closer together,”said the minister.
She encouraged all stakeholders, from businesses to community members, to actively support and utilize these new services. She noted that through their collective effort and patronage that they can ensure the success of this initiative.
CEO Philippe Bayard also expressed pleasure and termed the flights as the game changer for Intra- Religion travel between Dominica to Antigua, St. Kitts, and St. Lucia. He said that it will provide a huge boost for Dominica’s Tourism industry.
Sunrise Airways is making more connections with the Eastern Caribbean with better air connectivity , multi-destination adventurousness and strengthened the economy of Dominica. As per Minister Charles, the Dominica Government is fully committed to their people’s safety and growth of the country.
