Famous sprinter of Saint Lucia, Julien Alfred, continued her record breaking streaking after winning a pair of gold medals at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship that has taken place in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Saturday, March 11.
It is to be noted that sprinter Julian Alfred has broken her own 60 m collegiate record that she set on Friday with a noted time of 6.94 seconds. She had earlier broken the record with a noted time of 6.97 seconds at the Big 12 Conference Championships that took place around two weeks ago, in Lubbock, Texas.
Notably, the Saint Lucian sprinter was not done yet, as she sets the track on fire by breaking another 200 m collegiate record with a timing of 22.01 seconds after around 40 minutes after breaking the 60 m collegiate record.
It is to be mentioned that, Deputy Prime Minister of Saint Lucia as well as Member of Parliament, Dr Ernest Hilaire from Castries South, has also extended congratulations to the Saint Lucian sprinter, Julian Alfred. Deputy PM Dr Hilaire took it to his official social media handle to extend the greetings, noting to which, Dr Hilaire said that, “Congratulations to our very own Julian Alfred on her outstanding performances at the NCAA and emerging as champion in the 60M in 6.94s.”
The social media post shared by Dr Hilaire further reads that, “Moments later, she broke the collegiate 200M record with a time of 22.01s. This is also the 6th collegiate record time that she has set for this season! Saint Lucia is proud of you.”
Moreover, at the same time, Julian Alfred, after breaking the record, said that, “Hard work, faith, trust God. Before coming out here I told God, whatever it takes, I’m gonna tell the world about You. Because of God, I’m here right now.”
Meanwhile, the official Facebook page of the University of Texas & Field/Cross Country team, Texas Longhorns Track & Field/Cross Country, has also mentioned that, “The undisputed, undefeated 60m NCAA CHAMPION with a collegiate record time (6.94) for the SIXTH time this season, Julien Alfred.”
