Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: St Kitts and Nevis ranked at number 1 position in the CARICOM Human Development Index as per the United Nations agency. Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, acknowledged the actions undertaken by the government for their smooth functioning towards the development of the nation.
HDI is an analysis by the UN to measure the growth of the nation’s according to social and economic development. PM Drew expressed gratitude and happiness on witnessing this growth and appreciated the continuous efforts of his A team.
While appreciating the efforts of his A team, he stated that they opened up the country and started taking measures less than 24 hours after he took over the responsibility of Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis.
He also extended gratitude to Marsha T Henderson, the tourism minister and her team for their unwavering commitment and dedication towards enhancing the tourism sector. He also thanked the tourism authority for meeting with the Royal Caribbean to resolve their conflicts and solve the issues.
He stated that they have mended their relationship due to which they were able to get back a large number of cruise vessels, including the World’s largest Royal Caribbean, Icon of the Seas. Notably, this year, cruise tourism has played a huge role in enhancing the tourism sector of the nation which has directly boosted the economic conditions of the nation.
“This quick action has saved the industry as well as has helped the rapid economic rebound and St Kitts and Nevis being number 1 in CARICOM in terms of human development as per the 2023/2024 UNDP report,” noted PM Terrance Drew.
