The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, joined the assembly at the High-level Climate Action Summit session with the Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris along with many other prominent leaders at COP28, which is taking place in Dubai.
Noting to the details shared by PM Drew, adding that “I am always proud of multilateralism that it allows someone like me who is from a small nation, a chance to grace the stage and offer our own approach and solution to what is happening in regards to climate change.”
PM Drew also added that, “St Kitts and Nevis have not created the problem that they are dealing with.” He also stated that, “They are not showing them as a victim, but they are devoted to bringing out a solution to this problem.”
Notably, the PM also stated that they are dedicated to making all their contribution towards climate action.
He also mentioned that the island nation has recently inked an agreement to have the largest solar energy battery developed in the entire Caribbean.
PM Drew added that, “This is one of the main initiatives of St Kitts and Nevis and their size would not limit their dedication and devotion towards climate action.”
PM Drew also shared glimpses of the event by sharing his pictures with the other esteemed leaders through his Facebook account.
Moreover, PM Drew also officially opened St Kitts and Nevis at COP28 with their special guest from Taiwan, the Republic of China.
PM Drew extended his gratitude towards the St Kitts and Nevis team for their amazing work in coordinating and organizing this main event.
The team of St Kitts and Nevis includes the involvement of:
– Ministry of Sustainable Development, Environment and Climate Action
– Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Furthermore, the Government of St Kitts and Nevis will also conduct a National Ministerial Side-event session under the theme “Moving towards Sustainability with SISA2040 on Monday, 4th December 2023.
The session will be conducted at Saint Kitts and Nevis Country Pavilion, Building 21, Expo City, Dubai. Of which, the morning session is to be held at 10:30, and it will continue till 12:00 pm. Whereas, the afternoon session will be from 2:00 pm – 4:15 pm.
