The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, is demanding that Western countries provide a fraction of the military hardware in their stockpiles to his nation and ask whether they were afraid of Moscow.
Several nations have assured to provide anti-armor and anti-aircraft missiles and small arms, but Zelenskyy said Kyiv was not getting what it needed.
On Saturday, a late-night video address, he said, “It is tanking for our state. It is an anti-ship weapon. That is what our partners have, that is what is just gathering dust here. This is not only for the freedom of Ukraine but for the freedom of Europe.”
Ukraine requires just 1% of NATO’s aircraft & 1% of its tanks, adding that it would be impossible to stop Russian aggression on the besieged Mariupol without enough tanks, armored vehicles, & aircraft.
He said, “We have already been waiting for 31 days. Who is in charge of the Euro-Atlantic community? Is it really still Moscow because of intimidation?”
President Zelenskyy has repeatedly argued that Russia will seek to expand further into Europe if Ukraine falls. However, NATO has overlooked his calls for a no-fly zone to establish over Ukraine because it could lead to war.
According to a statement released by Zelenskyy’s office, “Earlier in the day, Zelenskyy spoke with Polish President Andrzej Duda and expressed disappointment that Russian-made fighter aircraft in Eastern Europe had not been transferred to Ukraine.”
President Zelenskyy stated that Poland and the U.S. had both stated their willingness to make a decision on the planes. But Washington refused a surprise offer by Poland to transfer MiG-29 fighter jets to a U.S. base in Germany to be used to replenish Ukraine’s air force.
