The Security Service continues a series of special operations to expose and eliminate corruption schemes related to mobilization. This time, they detained former and current officials who, for money, removed cars from military registration and sold fake disability certificates to conscripts. The details about the following has been shared by the Security Service of Ukraine via their official social media handle.
In Poltava Oblast:
Employees of the SBU arrested the head of one of the district military commissariats “red handed” while accepting a bribe. It is documented that a military officer demanded UAH 70,000 from the owner of a local enterprise that imports cars to the territory of Ukraine.
The bribe was intended for the provision of certificates on the removal of commercial vehicles from military registration. This document is necessary to reregister cars at service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs under martial law.
For money, the soldier promised not to create artificial obstacles in the process of deregistration of 5 cars.
It was established that the official regularly demanded bribes from entrepreneurs for such “services”.
Currently, it has been added to notify the detainee of the suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
In Cherkasy:
The former head of the Smilya District Council, who was selling fake certificates of disability to potential conscripts for going abroad, was detained. He received fake documents through his own connections among doctors. The details about the above mentioned has been added by the Security Service of Ukraine via their official social media handle.
In addition, the SBU detained an official of the local military medical commission. He also assisted the petitioners in issuing fictitious certificates of unfitness for military service due to health.
In both cases, the cost of “services” ranged from $3,000 to $6,000. The amount depended on the urgency of going abroad.
On the basis of the collected evidence, both defendants were notified of suspicion under three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
â–ª Part 3 of Art. 369-2 (abuse of influence);
â–ª Part 3 of Art. 332 (illegal transportation of persons across the state border);
â–ª Part 3 of Art. 368 (acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of undue benefit by an official).
According to the revealed facts, investigative actions are ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crimes and bring the culprits to justice. Perpetrators face up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
