The Security Service has gathered thorough evidence based on the former general director of Antonov State Enterprise, his deputy as well as the head of the aviation security unit.
As per the investigation materials, on the eve of a full-scale war, officials did not permit service members of the National Guard of Ukraine to take entry into the territory of the Gostomel Airport to prepare for its defence.
Such criminal actions have resulted in the temporary seizure of a strategically significant airfield, which surrounds settlements & the destruction of the AN-225 Mriya aircraft.
“We are conducting an objective probe of this case. Those who actually helped the Russians to destroy one of the Ukrainian symbols should suffer the well-deserved punishment. And the SBU will do everything required for this as well as our state will definitely build a new plane, because the Dream, like Ukraine, cannot be destroyed,” said the Head of the SBU, Vasyl Malyuk.
The SBU established that in the period of January to February 2022, officials expressly restricted the Ukrainian army from erecting defensive fortifications and fortifications at the airport.
For this purpose, an order was given to block the entry of the National Guard soldiers to territory of the object.
On the basis of the collected proof, the investigators of the Main Investigative Department of the SBU notified all three persons involved of the suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 114-1 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code (obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces as well as other military formations during a special period, which has resulted to the death of people and other serious consequences).
The preventive steps in the form of detention was chosen for two participants in the proceedings. Comprehensive steps are being taken to bring to justice the former deputy general director of the Antonov State Enterprise, who is currently hiding from justice. He is declared wanted.
It is to be noted that perpetrators face up to 15 years in prison.
The investigation continues under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
