The security service exposed another FSB agent during a multi-stage special operation in different regions of Ukraine.
On the instructions of the Russian Federation, he collected information about the locations of key power substations in Kharkiv, Sumy, Poltava, Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
In addition, the Russian agent informed the occupying forces about the approximate voltage of energy facilities, as well as the level of their damage after the Russian shelling.
The intelligence was needed by the Russian troops for the preparation of new and repeated airstrikes on electric substations for the complete blackout of 5 regions of Ukraine.
Military counter-intelligence officers of the SBU detained the suspect in Kharkiv while he was carrying out an intelligence mission of the FSB.
According to the investigation, the official of the regional division of the Ukrenergo company, who headed the group for optimization and calculation of electrical energy losses, turned out to be an enemy accomplice.
It has been established that the Russian special services recruited him long before the start of the full-scale invasion and put him in “sleep mode”.
After February 24, 2022, the FSB “activated” its agent and assigned him the task of conducting intelligence and subversive activities against Ukraine.
For communication, previously developed closed channels of electronic communication were used.
The traitor passed the received information to the occupiers through a “liaison” who was in the temporarily occupied Horlivka.
During searches of the detainee’s residence, a mobile phone, a laptop and a tablet with evidence of criminal activities were found.
The investigators of the Security Service informed him of the suspicion under part 2 of Art. 28, Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law).
He is currently in custody. An investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime. The perpetrator faces life imprisonment.
The special operation was conducted together with SBU investigators in the Kharkiv region under the procedural guidance of the Kharkiv regional prosecutor’s office.
