As Russia is continuously speeding up its war against Ukraine, the President of the United States, Joe Biden, is set to provide Kyiv with advanced rocket systems that can strike with ‘precision’ at longe-range Russian targets.
The $700 million weapons package might be disclosed on Wednesday. As per officials, the weapons have Himars, high mobility artillery rocket systems that can hit targets that are as far away as 80 km (50 miles), as per reports.
The package of weapons also comprises of ammunition, counterfire radars, a number of air surveillance radars, additional Javelin anti-tank missiles, as well as anti-armour weapons, reports added.
The United States has recently cleared a help of around $54 billion to Ukraine to assist the war-affected region of Ukraine to re-stable the nation.
According to several reports, Biden has mentioned that Russia’s full-scale military operation against Ukraine will “end via diplomacy.” However, the United States of America will assist “Ukraine with more advanced rocket systems as well as ammunition which will allow them to strike main targets on the battlefield in Ukraine more easily.”
While Ukraine has been asking it’s ally nations for longer-range missile systems, Biden on Tuesday has made a statement that he would “not send rocket systems to Ukraine that could hit targets well inside Russian territory.” So, Himars will not include a version able to reach around 186 miles (300 KM), out of fear that the Ukraine will use it to hit deep inside Russia.
