The Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, on Friday has taken part in the official launching ceremony of the Dominica-China cardiovascular imaging center and the Dominica-China Telemedicine Center.

Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, has extended honor to take part in the ceremony, which demonstrates the strength of Dominica’s collaboration with the government and people of China along with the extent to which the lives and wellbeing of the people of Dominica continue to be enhanced mainly because of this relationship.
PM Skerrit also highlighted China’s relationship with the Caribbean nations, including Dominica, as remarkable, the countless challenges facing small economies in a competitive global environment.
During the address, he said that, “This afternoon, we see another manifestation of China’s goodwill to us in Dominica. Ambassador Lynn, I wish to once again place on record the profound gratitude of government of for the cordial and mutually beneficial relationship which exists between the People’s Republic of China and Dominica.”
He further extended gratitude to the government of People’s Republic of China for helping Dominica in many ways, which have positively impacted the lives across multiple sectors, including, education, agriculture, infrastructure development, sports, disaster management, and health.
At the same time, PM Skerrit said that, “The Cardiovascular Imaging Center and the Telemedicine Center stand to revolutionize the provision of Cardiovascular services at Dominica-China Friendship Hospital. These additional investments at the Dominica China Friendship Hospital, demonstrate our shared commitment to improving the health and well being of our citizens. The establishment of the center made possibly possible by the generous onation of advanced medical equipment and the expertise of the first affiliated hospital of university is a monumental step forward in the provision of this specialized service to our citizens.”
Along with this, he said that, this project is not just about the high grade medical equipment but also about providing people of Dominica with the cutting edge health care services. Noting to which, he said that, the government of Dominica is creating a healthcare system that is people-centered and responsive to the needs of the individuals, one that also ensures equal access to everyone regardless of their socio-economic background and is efficient in delivery of timely care to people of Dominica.
