Roseau, Dominica: The Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit attended a reception ceremony which was conducted by the Embassy of the Commonwealth of Dominica in China. He actively participated in the celebration of successful and exceptional 20 years of diplomatic and strong relations with the People’s Republic of China.
The event was celebrated by the officials of the Government of the People’s Republic of China, members of the Diplomatic Corp and Dominican students studying in China.
He also extended gratitude to Ambassador Martin Charles and the students who hosted the event and displayed the diverse Dominican products and culture.
During his visit, PM Skerrit highlighted the significant support they have received from the People’s Republic of China and considered them a true friend who has always helped Dominica during its toughest times and been a support throughout.
The leader of the nation shed light on the successful collaborations between Dominica and China over the period of 20 years. He highlighted their partnership is the perfect example to the world as both nations have shared mutual support and cooperation in order to fight against all the challenges.
He also asserted that China has undertaken several initiatives which has played a huge role in promoting the economic growth of the developing countries. He also emphasised on access to digital technologies with the help of China which has helped Dominica a lot to fulfil their agenda of sustainable development.
Moreover, during his meeting with the Chinese President, PM Skerrit shared that they both held discussions and pledged commitment to strengthen and deepen the friendship and relations between both nations.
He also acknowledged China’s greatest contribution to world peace and development and stated that China has created a development miracle which has astonished the world.
Several people took to their social media accounts and appreciated the Dominica students studying in China for their exceptional efforts in hosting the event. One person with a Facebook handle Oswald Bertrand commented “It’s such a historical moment to watch our Dominican folks proudly representing.”
