The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, has extended an emotional apology to the Rastafarian Community during the debate on the Rastafari Recognition Bill, 2023, which was successfully passed on Tuesday June 20th, 2023.
He took it to his official social media handle to share the video clipping of the debate on the Rastafarian Recognition Bill, 2023. While making the address at the Parliament, PM Drew could be seen as saying that, the government of St Kitts and Nevis is currently engaged in taking the measures ensuring to rectify any mistakes taken place in the past and improving going forward.
Noting to which, PM Drew added that, “We are taking proactive measures to ensure that we rectify any past mistakes and improve going forward.”
During the address, PM Drew mentioned about the approach of the government of St Kitts and Nevis, as noting to which, he ensured that, “Our approach is grounded in humility and respect, with no ill intentions.”
It is to be noted that, while making the address in the parliament, Prime Minister, Dr Terrance Drew has highlighted the common goal of his government which is to bring people together, adding that, “ It is our goal to bring people closer together. It is important that we acknowledge past wrongdoings and work towards correcting them.”
At the same time, he has extended apology to the Rastafarian Community for the delay in addressing their concerns. Noting to which, PM Drew added that, “I would like to apologize to the Rastafarian community for the delay in addressing their concerns. We are committed to making things right and moving forward positively.”
