The first lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, during her trip to the United Kingdom, held a meeting with the Ukrainian nationals, who were forced during the war to leave their homes and flee their nation to live abroad.
Olena Zelenska took it to her social media handle to share the information about the meeting. She stated that, “On every trip, it is very vital for me to meet Ukrainians who were forced to leave their homes. Ask what else we could do to make your stay abroad easier. Just to hear your people, because it is always so sweet and so emotional: your own.”
While referring to the recent meeting held with the Ukrainian people living in London, Zelenska added that, “This trip to London is no exception. Together with King Charles III, The Royal Family also held a meeting with the Ukrainian community at the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Cathedral, which in August, together with the Union of Ukrainians in Great Britain, discovered a unique hub: The Ukrainian Welcome Centre. Here they help decide on accommodation, get settled, establish ties with the community, support and comfort.”
She further added that, “Since Russia switched to energy terror tactics, we acknowledge the fact that this winter will be the struggling in all the years of independence. So I am grateful for the fact that at least part of Ukrainians, specifically the elderly and children, are capable to wait out the chilly season without risking being in blackout conditions.”
Meanwhile, she said that, “Ukraine receives constant support from Great Britain in virtually all humanitarian areas. Medical equipment, fire trucks & ambulances, reconstruction of infrastructure, in specific railway and energy infrastructure, support for educators – we have help everywhere.”
At the same time, Zelenska noted that, “And today, meeting with Ukrainian people, I am once again convinced: our people were sheltered by friends and loved ones, whose welcome is from the bottom of my heart.”
