The National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine to perform at the Queen Elisabeth Hall in Antwerp on Monday, October 24, after having been invited by concert organiser Cofena.
The orchestra is right now on tour in Europe, as Russia’s war rages on in their homeland, and it will be performing in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France and the Netherlands.
Their program for Monday’s concert includes Johannes Brahms’ ‘Double Concerto’ as well as ‘Symphony No. 2’ by Jean Sibelius, with the latter being a ‘political choice’ according to Cofena.
The Finnish composer Sibelius created the symphony in 1902, when Russian sanctions against the Finnish language and culture were in force, with lyrics also evoking the struggle for independence.
Tickets range between €22 and €94 and are on sale on the Queen Elisabeth Hall website.
