Authorities in southwestern Russia announced on Tuesday that a fire, ignited by a Ukrainian attack over the weekend, had finally been extinguished. The blaze erupted at an oil depot in the Kursk region, following a drone strike early Sunday morning.
Acting Kursk region Governor Alexei Smirnov confirmed the incident in a post on Telegram, stating, “Emergency responders have extinguished a fire at an oil depot.”
Smirnov added that three fuel tanks were struck during the Ukrainian drone attack, which took place in the early hours of Sunday. Despite the severity of the incident, no injuries were reported.
Ukraine’s military claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that one of its drones targeted the Polyova oil depot in the Kursk region, just across the border from Ukraine.
