The Counter-intelligence wing of the Security Service of Ukraine has prevented the illegal arms trade in the front-line territories of the Kherson region.
During the stabilization measures in the de-occupied part of the region, a dealer who tried to sell weapons and ammunition, which he found in the areas of hostilities, was detained. The information about the following has been shared by the Security Service of Ukraine via their official social media handle.
Russian anti-tank weapons and hundreds of large-caliber ammunition, including automatic cannons and machine guns, were seized from the attacker.
It was established that he involved several of his acquaintances for the covert sale of the arsenal.
According to the available data, the attacker tried to approach the representatives of crime and offer them “goods”.
However, SBU and National Police officers promptly exposed his criminal intentions and blocked the illegal sale of weapons near the southern front line.
According to the investigation, the organizer of the illegal business is a resident of the village of Ukrainka, Beryslav District, Kherson Region.
He kept weapons and ammunition for sale in a special cache, which he built on the territory of his own household.
During the inspection of the hiding place, the employees of the Security Service seized:
â–ª Russian anti-tank missile system “Kornet”;
â–ª RPG-22 hand-held anti-tank grenade launcher;
â–ª Russian Tavolga-2 rocket-propelled grenade;
â–ª 2 tank shells;
â–ª 5 30 mm caliber shells for the 2A42 automatic gun;
â–ª anti-tank mine;
â–ª 4 shots at anti-tank grenade launchers RPG-7 and LNG;
â–ª almost 400 cartridges of various calibers;
â–ª 14 kg of artillery powder;
â–ª spare parts for ammunition.
All seized means of destruction have been sent for examination, and then will be handed over for the needs of the Defense Forces.
Currently, the person involved has been notified of the suspicion under Part 1 of Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives).
An investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime. The perpetrator faces up to 7 years in prison.
