The counter-intelligence of the Security Service conducted a multi-stage special operation in the front-line areas of the Dnipropetrovsk region. As a result of operational measures, one more agent of the Main Directorate of the General Staff (known as GRU) was exposed.

He turned out to be an employee of the local Ukrzaliznytsia station. At the beginning of this year, the man was recruited by a staff member of Russian military intelligence.

The traitor collected information about railway routes of transportation and places of unloading of foreign military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which is involved in counteroffensive operations of Ukrainian troops.

In addition, the Russian agent recorded the coordinates of railway stations and bridges, through which the heavy weapons and ammunition of the Defense Forces are redeployed.

To fulfill the tasks of the aggressor, he filmed objects in detail on the camera of his own mobile phone during work trips by train.

Intelligence information was needed by the occupiers to carry out airstrikes in the region.

Also, the Russian invaders were considering a “sabotage option” at Ukrzaliznytsia facilities with the participation of a recruited agent.

In this way, the aggressor planned to disrupt the supply of fuel, weapons and ammunition for the Armed Forces on the South-Eastern Front.

However, SBU employees promptly exposed the Russian agent, documented his criminal actions and detained him.

During the search at the suspect’s place of residence, the following was found:

▪️ F-1 and RGD-5 grenades;

▪️ carabiner;

▪️ a large number of cartridges for small arms;

▪️ smoke grenades.

Based on the collected evidence, the investigators of the Security Service notified the detainee of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

▪️ Part 2 Art. 111 (treason committed under martial law);

▪️ Part 1 Art. 263 (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives).

Complex measures were carried out by SBU employees in the Dnipropetrovsk region with the assistance of the Office of the Director of Economic and Information Security of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” and the procedural leadership of the Dnipropetrovsk regional prosecutor’s office.
