WorldEuropeChina summons EU diplomats to protest statements by G7 Nations over Taiwan
China says it has summoned European diplomats in the nation to protest statements which are issued by the G7 nations and the EU criticising threatening Chinese army exercises surrounding Taiwan.
As per the statement issued by Foreign Ministry on Friday said Vice Minister Deng Li made “solemn representations” over what he referred “wanton interference in internal affairs of China.”
China has shipped navy ships & warplanes as well as launched missiles into the Taiwan Strait in answer to a visit this week by US Speaker of the House of Representative Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan, which China regards its own territory to be annexed by force if needed.
Tourists gathered on the coast of China across from Taiwan on Friday to try to catch a glimpse of any army aircraft which is heading toward the extra area.
Fighter aircraft could be heard taking flights overhead & tourists clicking photographs chanted, “Let’s take Taiwan back,” looking out into the blue waters of the Taiwan Strait from Pingtan island, a popular scenic spot.
China has shipped army ships and war planes around the mid-line of the Taiwan Strait, said by the Taiwanese Defence Ministry, crossing what had been an unofficial buffer zone between China and Taiwan for decades.
Meanwhile, Defence Minister of Japan, Nobuo Kishi said, “Around 5 of the missiles launched by China landed in Japan’s Exclusive Economic Zone off Hateruma, an island for the south of Japan’s main islands.”
He added Japan protested the missile landings to China as “serious threats to Japan’s national security and the safety of the Japanese people.”
Japan’s Defence Ministry later said they believe the other four missiles, fired from China’s southeastern coast of Fujian, flew over Taiwan.
The Prime minister of Japan, Fumio Kishida, mentioned that China’s army exercises is aiming at Taiwan representing a “grave problem” that is threatening regional peace and security. In Tokyo, where Pelosi is winding up her trip to Asia, she said China cannot stop US officials from visiting Taiwan.
Following breakfast with Pelosi and her congressional delegation, Kishida said the missile launches need to be “stopped immediately.”
Deng added China would “stop the nation from splitting with the strongest determination, using all means and at any cost.” He continued, “Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan is a blatant political manipulation and a blatant and serious violation of China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.” Deng said, “In reply to the US-Taiwan collusion and provocation, China’s counterattack is only natural.”
