After three (3) weeks, the Belgian Consortium for Emergency Aid Organisations managed to collect €24.8 million for its #Ukraine1212 appeal, the organisation has announced in a press release on Friday.
After the Flemish media’s successful joint ‘Ukraine 12-12’ benefit show, a solidarity action was followed by 12 French-speaking radio stations, ‘Radios Ukraine.’
“We have witnessed an enormous wave of solidarity from the public, companies, associations, authorities, schools and media over the past few weeks,” stated by Gilles van Moortel, coordinator of Consortium 12-12.
As per him, “the exceptional media support made a world of difference.”
With the proceeds, the seven humanitarian organisations that are members of the Consortium provide immediate relief such as clean water, medical care and psychological assistance in Ukraine and in neighbouring nations.
This way, the organisations help the vulnerable and displaced people in Ukraine itself as well as the inhabitants who fled abroad.
Donations could be made until 31 December 2022 via the 12-12 bank account number BE 19 0000 0000 1212 or online via www.1212.be.
