The Russian defence ministry, in a statement released on Thursday, said Ukraine’s air bases and military infrastructure had been neutralised, as per the reports. At the same time, the Ukrainian military said that five Russian planes and a Russian helicopter were shot down in the Luhansk region.

The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin has made an announcement about the military operations in Ukraine on early Thursday. As Putin spoke, several big explosions were heard in Kyiv, Kharkiv and various other regions of Ukraine.

Later, air sirens went off in Kyiv, indicating that the city was under attack. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced martial law in the nation and said Russia had carried out missile strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure and the nation’s border guards.

At least 7 people have been killed, and around fifteen others have been injured by Russian shelling, Ukrainian authorities said on Thursday.

Whereas, nineteen others are missing, and the ministry said a bridge over the Inhulets River had been destroyed.

Meanwhile, Russian tanks have also crossed into Ukrainian territory, entring the Luhansk region, as per Ukraine’s border authority reports.

The tanks were also spotted around the communities of Krasna Talivka, Milove and Horodyshche.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Thursday that, “He has almost appealed to global leaders to impose all the possible sanctions on Russia, including on President Vladimir Putin personally, saying that the Kremlin leader wanted to destroy the Ukrainian state.
