The employees of the Security Service of Ukraine, exposed an organized criminal group that was engaged in illegal business in the Poltava region and tried to “obtain the protection” of the Security Service of Ukraine. The details about the following has been shared by the Security Service of Ukraine via their official social media handle.
The Security Service officer was offered a bribe, to “turn a blind eye” to the illegal business, but he refused and immediately reported it to his management.
Since then, the Main Directorate of Internal Security of the SBU has been recording the actions of OZU step by step in order to identify all the members of the group.
In the end, the law enforcement officers reported the suspicion to the five persons involved.
According to the case materials, an organized criminal group engaged in illegal logging in the Myrhorod district of the Poltava region. Dilki began illegal activity in the fall of 2022. Every month, they sold more than 30 cubic meters of round oak under fictitious documents.
OZU participants are charged with the commission of crimes provided for in three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
▪️ Part 4 Art. 246 (illegal felling or illegal transportation, storage, sale of forest)
▪️ Part 1 and Part 3 Art. 369 (offer, promise or provision of undue benefit to an official)
▪️ Part 3 Art. 368 (acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an unlawful benefit by an official)
The pre-trial investigation has been completed. The indictment was submitted to the court.
Perpetrators face imprisonment from 5 to 10 years without the right to hold certain positions and confiscation of property.
