Russia increases attack in Ukraine’s eastern industrial region

WorldRussiaRussia increases attack in Ukraine's eastern industrial region
After two months since Russian President Vladimir Putin has called for a war on Ukraine, Moscow has increased its attack in Ukraine’s eastern industrial heartland of coal mines and factories.
It comes after Russia made a statement a few weeks ago that its primary goal was the capture of Donbas in the eastern region and retreated from areas around Kyiv.
Still, Ukraine has repelled several advances by the Russians, as per the latest British intelligence report.
Meanwhile, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has called on the West to supply more arms and helps his nation in the fight against Russia.
Russia has assaulted cities along boomerang-shaped front hundreds of miles long and poured more troops into eastern Ukraine on Tuesday.
The eastern cities of Kharkiv and Kramatorsk came under deadly attack, and Russia also said it struck areas around Zaporizhzhia and Dnipro West of the Donbas with missiles.
As per the Russian Defence Ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov, air-launched missiles destroyed 13 Ukrainian troops and weapons locations, while the air force struck 60 other Ukrainian military facilities, including missile warhead storage depots.
Russian artillery hit around 1,300 Ukrainian military facilities and more than 1,200 troop concentrations over the past 24 hours, Konashenkov said.
On Tuesday, a senior US defence official said that Russia added two more combat units in Ukraine. That brought the overall number of units in the nation to 78, up from 65 last week, the official said.
As per the recent British intelligence report, Russia’s attack in Donbas has been hampered by environmental, logistical and technical challenges.
The report added that, “Russian shelling and strikes on the Donbas line of control continue to increase, with the Ukrainians repelling numerous attempted advances by Russian troops. Russia’s ability to progress continues to be impacted by the environmental, logistical and technical challenges that have beset them so far, combined with the resilience of the highly-motivated Ukrainian armed forces.”
