Newtown, St Kitts: A 60-year-old woman sustained multiple injuries after being stabbed several times on Wednesday morning in her Community residence at Carty Alley, Newtown. It is to be noted that the victim was identified as Elminda Martinez Gomez.

As per the reports, the incident took place sometime after 10 AM. Gomez was found lying unresponsive in a pool of blood at her residence, with a slashed throat from ear to ear.

Following the incident, she was immediately rushed to the JNF hospital and underwent some major surgeries. Currently, she is in a stable condition.

Meanwhile, no arrests and further revelations have been made into the matter. The preliminary reports have disclosed that a male deliberately entered her residence and later escaped after committing the crime.

The authorities have been investigating the case closely and are collecting evidence from the nearby community members. They assured the people and emphasized bringing the victim to justice.

Further, they have also appealed to the communities to reach out to their nearest police station or call at the given number if any information or evidence related to the case is found.

In addition to this, previously, another incident came to light, where a 35-year-old mother, was charged with the murder of her four-year-old and six-month-old children. The perpetrator was identified as Colander Caines, a resident of Upper Monkey Hill, St Peter’s, St Kitts. The incident took place between February 8th and 9th, 2024.

The two incidents have left community members on social media shocked and dismayed over the rising crime rates in the nation in early 2024.

A user, identified as Janice Okuns said, “So sad. Sincere condolences”. another user, Ipejayi Rose, addressed the matter and said that the authorities should take action strictly in these matters. “The police best find them. These are the things that St.kitts people should take seriously,” she added.

While a user, Immortal Lords blamed society and the authorities for giving hype to these brutal crimes. “Society is to blame all its lies about children bringing happiness and oh how they are blessings but the truth is children aren’t for everyone and society’s dumb upholding of having kids should be refined,” he added.
