Travel enthusiasts around the world look to explore different locations without compromising their safety and security. While the Caribbean region is a well-known tourist destination, people usually avoid travelling there because of several negative rumours of crime and uncertainty. But, some of the Caribbean nations are famous for providing a safe and secure environment. In its recent report, a well-known tourist guide website, Travellers Worldwide, ranked St Kitts and Nevis as the safest islands to visit in 2023. This ranking signifies the efforts of the government of St Kitts and Nevis to ensure the safety of their visitors.

The island nation of St Kitts and Nevis has also received positive safety ratings from official sources along with being ranked as the safest island by “Travellers Worldwide.” Notably, the US Department of State has allocated a Level 1 advisory to the island nation, denoting that Americans can safely visit the island with simple precautions.

Moreover, the country has also been regarded as a safe place to visit by the Government of Canada, outlining the low level of risk for visitors. These acknowledgements from the top two governments – US and Canada have assured travellers planning a trip to the island nation in 2023.

Although just like in any other country, incidents of petty crime are found in St Kitts and Nevis, crime against tourists is rarely seen. The newly elected government of St Kitts and Nevis is focusing on the safety and security of visitors. It is continuously taking considerable steps to make sure that the tourists enjoy a good time in the island nation without being hassled about their safety.

St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) became victorious in the August 2022 snap elections and introduced new policies and a new vision following which the Federation has witnessed a slight decline in the crime rate. The data released by UNODC – United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime has also shown a reduced crime rate in St Kitts and Nevis. Since the Labour Party came to power, the crime rate has declined from an average of 37.76 to only 18.80 during the last five years.

Additionally, several vloggers and travel enthusiasts who visited the nation recently have praised it for being the safest place to visit in the Caribbean region through their travel videos. St Kitts and Nevis is the best place for solo female travellers as the crime rates against women are significantly very low compared to other nations, making it difficult for females to travel alone.

Other than the safety and security, the local people of the island nation are very friendly and welcoming, making the visit of tourists more pleasant. The locals live with happiness and prosperity and welcome people with open arms. At the same time, government bodies are always willing to help tourists in case of any requirement or urgency.

Also, the country maintains good diplomatic ties with other countries worldwide, making it less controversial to visit, and travellers can enjoy their time away from their hectic lives in a mesmerising and beautiful environment.
