The Security Service detained another informant of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Soviet Union (better known as the GRU) in Donetsk region.
He collected intelligence for the occupiers about the deployment locations and routes of movement of the Defense Forces in the areas of Sloviansk, Lyman, and Mykolaivka.
He paid special attention to the movement routes of Ukrainian military convoys crossing the Siverskyi Donets River in the direction of Bakhmut.
The attacker also gave coordinates of local factories and railway infrastructure to the aggressor.
The invaders needed the intelligence to prepare airstrikes against Ukrainian objects, including using drones.
According to the investigation materials, the resident of the liberated Liman, who was remotely recruited by Russian military intelligence, turned out to be an enemy accomplice.
For the purpose of transmitting the intelligence, he was continuously “in touch” with scout of the assault battalion of the GRU special forces as well as a gunner of the tank company of the Russian tactical group “Kupol”.
Moreover, it was also established that the communication was maintained via the banned Odnoklassniki social network.
Notably, the investigators of the SBU have informed the detainee that he is suspected of having committed crime.
The figure is in custody. A probe is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime.
Complex steps were also carried out by the SBU employees in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural guidance of the Donetsk regional prosecutor’s office.
