The security service of Ukraine have detained two more organizers of the pseudo-referendum of the Russian Federation, which took place during the temporary occupation of the right-bank part of the Kherson region in 2022. The details about the above mentioned has been shared by the Security Service of Ukraine via their official social media handle.
It is to be noted that, the detainees turned out to be residents of the Beryslav district, including a mother and daughter who, after the capturing of the region, supported the Russian invaders and offered them their help in leading the war against Ukraine.
As per the details shared by the SBU, “Both collaborators were “appointed” to the occupation “election commission” of one of the local villages. There, they conducted yard visits of residents and collected “votes for the accession” of Kherson Oblast to the Russian Federation. In case of refusal to put the “required” mark in the fake ballot, enemy accomplices threatened with imprisonment in the Russian torture chamber. For additional intimidation of the local population, female collaborators were accompanied by armed militants. Later, the defendants falsified the “results” of the fake plebiscite in favor of the Kremlin.”
“After the liberation of the village, the perpetrators remained in the territory of the district and hoped that they would “not be remembered”. However, SBU officers exposed both collaborators, established their addresses and detained them,” says the details shared by the SBU.
On the basis of the collected evidence, the investigators of the Security Service notified the detainees of the suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 28, Part 5 of Art. 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. They are currently in custody.
An investigation is underway to establish all the circumstances of the crime and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Complex measures were carried out by SBU employees in the Kherson region under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor’s office and the Berislav district prosecutor’s office.
