A Sikh as well as a Christian were reportedly shot to death in two different planned assaults in the northwest city of Peshawar. The following information has been shared by the Pakistan authorities.
In different incidents in the northwest city of Peshawar, an unidentified attacker have shot and killed a Pakistani Sikh merchant and a Christian janitor.
A Sikh business owner, Dayal Singh, was shot while he was inside his grocery store by armed men on a motorcycle who then left the scene, as per the police officer Haroon Rasheed. He added that the authorities are currently probing the entire scene.
Police found proof from the security camera film, as per Rasheed, an will soon be able to name the shooters.
Whereas, in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the minister for the communication and religious minorities gave Sikhs the assurance that the offenders would be arrested and that steps would be taken to safeguard the minorities. As per Feroze Jamal Shah Kakakhel, the family members of Singh will receive recompense in the amount of 500,000 rupees.
In another incident, a Christian, Kashif Maseeh, was shot and killed on Saturday by unidentified assailants. He was shot while he was walking home from his work.
There had been continuous reports coming of the planned killings. In similar incident, a prominent Hindu physician and eye specialist, Birbal Genani, was shot and killed in Karachi on Thursday. As per the police supervisor Zubair Tanoli, Genani was fatally struck in the brain.
