“Eighteen(18) housing units have been handed over to the families in Bataca and Sineku,” says the government of the Commonwealth of Dominica. The following information has been shared by the Dominican government after the Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit handed over the keys of 18 housing units to the families in Bataca and Sineku on Wednesday.
Notably, the housing units were constructed under the 11th EDF B-Envelope State as well as Resilience Contract for Rehabilitation after the Hurricane Maria. During the handing over ceremony, Parliamentary Representative for the Roseau, Melissa Poponne Skerrit also took participation.
Meanwhile, the government of Dominica took it to their official social media handle to share the update among the general public, adding that, “18 housing units have been handed over the families in Bataca as well as Sineku. This unit were constructed under the 11th EDF B-Envelope State and Resilience Contract for Rehabilitation after the Hurricane Maria.”
It is also noted that the government of the Commonwealth of Dominica has been keenly working towards the rehabilitation process following the island nation suffered a natural disaster, Hurricane Maria. Moreover, the Hurricane Maria has left over 90% of buildings damaged and also caused severe destruction across the island nation of Dominica.
After being a victim to several natural calamities because of the climate change, the nation has been focusing on building a resilient infrastructure which should be capable of withstanding natural disasters, including Category-V hurricanes as well.
Furthermore, the government of the Commonwealth of Dominica has also constructed climate-resilient infrastructure, which includes roads, bridges, hospitals, healthcare centres and many more after they get destroyed by the Hurricane Maria.
